Swati Aliawadi....The Opinionated..

Today I’m featuring a fellow blogger Swati Ailawadi
AKA (Fashion+Decor x logic)

I first noticed her through her Instagram account. There is a certain hidden humour in the way she captured her images, style with quirk as I would put it and very very individualistic at that too, her strong sense of being made me reach out to her and I must say it has been a joy to know her beyond those photographs ever since.

She is a Fashion Blogger by profession and an Accessory Designer by degree, though her heart has always had an inclination towards tasteful chic interiors. She is captivated by the history of design, it's evolution, the growth of fashion and their bigger purpose in popular cultures in our recent times.
Since a young age she has actively spoken her mind out through debates, talks and discussions which led her in becoming opinionated yet liberal, one who is ferociously against meaningless social norms and is an egalitarian, but pro-women due to the obvious disparities between genders. So all of these traits come forth in her blogging where social questions meet fashion and design, all looked at from a logical perspective.

Having recently stumbled upon her work and sense of style I was actually guided by her in understanding her possessions.....

" My favorite fashion possession currently has to be my new Nike shoes. I don't wear pink much and neither did I previously own a pair of sneakers. So, I have pushed my fashion boundary with this one and loved it on a recent vacation."

"I would define my style as edgy meets minimalistic where more often than not my accessories and hair end up being edgy. You can see the contrast in my clothing and accessories wardrobes in the below picture."

"If you ask me I'm most possessive about my hair. I believe in spending and investing the most on my hair and my argument is that the cost per wear for a hairstyle is a lot less than say a clothing item bought at the same price so if you have a kick-ass hairstyle, even the most regular of attires start looking better, hence they would clearly be my favourite ."

The other detail I love paying attention to is perfume, I think I took Coco Chanel's
"A woman who doesn't wear perfume has no future" way too seriously. .....*wink*

The Diva.........Roanee KC

I read a beautiful quote today.“We could all do with a bit more joy in our lives couldn't we? The wonderful thing is that when we start spreading joy, we begin to actually experience more joy in our lives too!” While writing this post today I feel the same feeling. A few days back I set out on this journey to meet new people, talk to them, hear them out, listen to them tell me about their prized possessions, write about their joys and share their longings. It hasn't been a long time since my first story but I must say that even in this short span of time I am so happy to have taken this initiative. It is such a joy to hear strangers and friends open about themselves so unabashedly. We humans are such complex beings, no two are alike. Every face hides a different emotion, every smile recalls a different joy, every mind has a different direction. When this thought had come to my mind I had realised that no two people will have the same favourites and that variety will direct my blog's journey and today after a dozen stories my belief has only strengthened. What I din't realise back then was the element of surprise that some people could bring to my posts. Either they turned out to be much deeper then what they showed to the world or they were poles apart from what I had perceived them to be.One such wonderful surprise that I happen to know recently is Roanee Kc.By profession she is a "NURSE IN ONCOLOGY"

Yes I know what you're thinking.....trust me I'm telling you the truth.......She is NOT a model.

Roanee was born in Nepal but now lives in Sydney. Though nursing can get a bit stressful at times she still loves every aspect of her job and believes it to be a noble and rewarding profession."As a nurse I find it hard to keep up with my fashionable self at work (nursing isn't a glamorous profession) but having said that I love my scrubs."She is every bit of a 23 year old. Loves to shop, watch movies, spend lazy afternoons in bed, enjoys having a good time, trying out new cuisines and meeting new people. She is easy going and makes friends easily with her warm personality. As it is already evident from her gorgeous photographs she loves to dress up."They say one day our life will flash before our eyes.......why not make it worth watching. Needless to say....I'm a fashion addict. I always keep myself updated with the latest trends and I strongly believe that fashion is a lifestyle, its all about passion and good taste. I like to look good, it makes me feel better about myself and boosts my confidence however it's all about comfort for me. I am not really that brand conscious and I think you can look or feel good even without spending tons of money. If you're wise enough to pick clothes that suit your body type, the occasion or the weather you will pull it off in the end. Before we talk about clothes I have to say....... I'm obsessed with dogs!!! I absolutely adore these faithful, loving, cuddly creatures (though I still have to own one myself). I really miss my sister's dogs back home he was my utmost favourite." Seeing her wardrobe choices and the way she always turned out I knew I would find some really fascinating and drool worthy items in her wardrobe and she didn't fail to deliver. When I asked her about her favourite possession understandably so, she couldn't make up her mind, which 23 year old fashionista can??!!

She admires natural beauty and loves to surround herself with beautiful places and take plenty of pictures within such breathtaking backdrops.

"I have a few, is that okay???I love going traditional at times. Being so far away from home we rarely get chances to dress up in our traditional clothes. I find my traditional attire really unique and exotic as it stands out in this western culture.I own a kurta (dress) in my wardrobe which I'm in love with. I bought it on one of my recent trips to Nepal. I first wore it at an important Nepalese festival, Tihar. It was an auspicious day for us and I  received so many compliments with this dress that it made it a memorable night for me and I still cherish those memories hence this dress is an absolute favourite of mine.Coming to my second favourite item in my wardrobe.......It is a gown that I bought from SEDUCE.""It was love at first sight for me and the price was so reasonable that I just couldn't believe my luck . I'm still waiting for that special day when I can wear this beautiful gown."

"Another favourite is this Forever New clutch. I bought it recently for my sister's baby shower to match it with my dress and absolutely fell in love with it. I also wear these Swarovski ear studs (picture below) that I had pinched from my mum a lot. She had bought these for herself when we were on a vacation in Thailand.""I love my Fossil Rose Gold watch, it's my first and you can never forget your first. I'm not really a watch person but something provoked me to buy this watch. I was feeling very retrospective and may be it was growing up or may be I was realising the importance of time, I don't know what it was but just on an impulse I went ahead and bought it HE!!HE!!."Looking at her I once again realised that despite where you are, what you do in life or how much sickness/sorrow you see around you, All it takes to feel really happy is very simple......Cherish the abundance that your life has offered you and feel the joy, the gift that it is.LIVE IN THE MOMENT!!!!!Happy holidays people.....Spread the LOVE!!!XOXO.Share it with your friends and follow my blog for more such stories.......

Earnest and Eager......Nidhi Sharma

“Elegance is a glowing inner peace. Grace is an ability to give as well as to receive and be thankful. Mystery is a hidden laugh always ready to surface! Glamour only radiates if there is a sublime courage & bravery within: glamour is like the moon; it only shines because the sun is there.”

There are a few people who have this unremitting thirst for knowledge. They like to passionately read about a certain topics or follow them ardently, for them any object of desire or just a passer by has the capacity to ignite interest. This thirst for knowledge drives them to explore life and its many dimensions. They can find joy in the smallest of things and absolutely random objects can also hold their attention for hours . You can always have a joyful experience to sitting and talking with them on different things like fashion, painters , writers , social documentaries , current news , moral debates, topics etc etc......it's a good mental exercise. You may or may not agree on the same notions but at least the discussions turns out fruitful.

One such very dear friend of mine, actually my best friend is Nidhi Sharma.

She has been one of my top sources of information for years now and has gifted me the joy of knowing so many new Designers, Stylists, Reviews , Books , Shows and Movies. Like me she also likes to shop for vintage and unique one of a kind clothes and jewellery and we have spent numerous evenings down flea markets and garage sales hunting for our objects of desire . She is also a fashion designer and has worked for names like Maxmara and currently lives in New Delhi, India.

When I asked her about her utmost favourite fashion possessions she brought out her absolutely gorgeous vintage finds.

" This dress is an old piece, I don't even remember where I picked this one up from but I absolutely love it. It is made up of Crepe de chine/silk crepe fabric and all the embroidery and detailing that you see in black is hand done. It's an entire panel of handwoven macramé that has been appliquéd on to the dress. I admire and respect handmade art forms dearly and hence this dress holds a special place in my heart and will continue to do so for years to come."

"Another Favourite of mine are these Gold Jhumpkis (earrings) gifted to me by my grandmother. She is a piece of my heart and I am really close to her hence these being gifted by her means the world to me, making them really precious, below are some pictures of me wearing them."

" Lastly, I love this vintage gold butterfly brooch pin (also gifted by my grand mother). I have worn it on several occasions and it has always brought home several compliments. Another reason why I wear it so often is that this brooch is very delicate and feminine hence goes with almost everything I wear. At times I have gone out without any jewellery, wearing just the brooch and it has still been noticed and admired, hence it has become a wardrobe staple for me now."

Allison....Keeping it Stylish Yet Simple

"It's a bright and sunny day outside, the weather is warmer today, spring must be coming soon. I'm thinking colour.....like bright orange or hot pink, would that be too much together? I hope I'm not over killing it but I really felt cheery and bright today so I think these are the colours for today.... let's throw a neutral blazer in, might work. This heat is making me take some awesome fashion risks."

"This is California you see, the sun is always bright here. Its always good to dress up and head out you never know who you pass by. A bright and sunny day can never fail to make you feel upbeat and happy. Everyone is always in a great mood here."

This was Allison Weeks talking to us about her post today, she is a Fashion blogger from California.

I know what you must be thinking......Ohk!!!!! here we go, one more blogger , what is wrong with their generation? You buy an iPhone and you think you're a photographer and then when you don't have anything to do you start posting. "Instagram" is like your fashion degree and "Facebook likes" are your resume???? Is that all you need these days? Were all the others from a generation apart fools to spend days perfecting their sense of design in their workshops or burning the midnight oil just before a runway show???

Well I totally respect your feeling and trust me I've had the same feelings whenever I have seen an unworthy appreciation but in this herd of Prada bags and Gucci shoes there are still some starlets outshining the others.

If a woman, standing in her lawn dressed up in pink can make me (sitting in my bed in the middle of nowhere and continents apart ) write about her, there has to be something about her right???

When you browse through her blog " SWEET MADAME BLUE" the one thing you notice is that she is young full of energy. Her love for unique prints and bold colours is evident though once in a while she does the occasional elegant transitions as well. It's her glow that holds your attention. She is new to this and over her posts you can see her growth with the imaging becoming more stylised one after the other, she is taking more risks now and is also channelising a major fashion audience through her chictopia profile.

"Right now I am absolutely obsessed with the sporty trend. Anything with mesh or an athletic feel is what I am currently living in. I love to thrift shop, there is so much you can find and it won't even hurt your pockets. So till the endorsements don't come knocking on my doorstep I will rely on my Forever 21 and Target , you might be pleasantly surprised by how much you can find there. They offer very affordable pieces that can be easily interchanged throughout the different trends and seasons."

One more thing I realised in her posts....you never see her without her glasses on(may be she likes to see the world through her tinted glasses) so when I asked her about her favourite fashion possession I was expecting her to talk about her sunnies.... but I was wrong. It was her pair of these stunning nude studded heels.

"I had purchased these from oasap.com. I love them because they go with everything, they look extremely chic and I never fail to receive countless compliments every time I wear them so they are my absolute favourites."

Style Chameleon...Ellen Chang

“Reinvent new combinations of what you already own. Improvise. Become more creative. Not because you have to, but because you want to. Evolution is the secret for the next step.”

"What do I wear today? I have nothing to wear."

If you ask me I feel these are the two most common sentences that come out of a girl's mouth around the world and usually at 7 o'clock in the morning......He! He! I can already sense a few of you rolling your eyes in agreement.

Well it is a genuine problem and it is tiresome and stressful for such delicate creatures like us to stress our brains over this but despite the agony every day we dig deep into our pile of clothes and synchronise a combination that can get us ready and out of the door in minutes for whatever it is that we are getting late for. I am myself guilty as charged for this offence and half the times I rely on my denims and just throw on any easy to grab on t-shirt that smells fresh before heading out. So as one can imagine in that very moment my sense of style, my fashion sensibilities are all thrown out of the window and what stays is practicality and ease.

Being a woman is tough, there are always guidelines to follow, expectations to be met, we are always expected to be a certain way at a certain age or place. But being a women also means that we have the privilege of being these beautiful creatures whose existence makes this world a prettier sight to see. We were meant to look pretty and charm the world with our eyes, our hazelnut hair, long legs, our wit, our humour and the list goes on. One comes across many woman in their life but some never fail to leave an impression on you. The way they talk, the way they walk or just carry themselves is something that stays in your mind as a memory of them.

Style is the key to everything. It gives you a fresh perspective to an otherwise boring or dull idea. Whether you are 10 or 30 it's always fashionable to have grace and its always glamorous to be brave.  At times you will feel it is better to carry off a stagnant or orthodox idea with style rather than pulling off a creatively new rubbish idea with no style or charm. But nurturing a sense of style doesn't come easy and usually takes years of practising, experimenting and being brave. I have the joy of knowing plenty of such brave hearts who are doing an absolutely amazing job at inventing and re-inventing themselves and their wardrobes, mixing and putting together fresh and in sync looks one after the other.

One such Style Maven or Style Chameleon as I would like to call her is Ellen.

She lives in Canada and is an addiction counsellor at Breakaway Addiction Centre, Toronto. Her profession may sound serious and heavy but she is nothing like that in person. She loves to have a good time and enjoys dancing the most. When you look for her on Facebook u'll find that her name is also spelt ELLEN CHANGE.....that's how much she loves to change things around her. She loves food in all it's forms and is known to go out hunting for new eateries around the town along with passionately cooking at home.

Her sense of style is unique, her clothes are pretty, her make up is always right and she doesn't shy away from trying different looks every now and then. Thus I had to write about Ellen on this series that I am doing and she lovingly opened up about her favourite.

"I truly enjoy being able to dress in a versatile way – from casual, preppy, cute, grunge to business and elegant – I love being able to pull off different looks effortlessly. I like to challenge myself and experiment with trends and moods that inspire me, always adding a bit of me to my entire attire . It does take a lot of effort but I enjoy the ability and freedom to express myself through my clothing."

When asked about her favourite possession, she said," There is so much to choose from. I have so many that I absolutely can't part away with but I guess if I had to choose one I will have to go with my Louis Vuitton Eva Clutch.

" I love this clutch for several reasons. Firstly, I love the versatility of it because I can wear it in four different ways (as shown in the pics below). I can use it as a clutch, handbag, cross shoulder bag or regular shoulder bag. The simple monogram design allows me to pair it with virtually anything in my closest, from casual to elegant wear. I literally can take this clutch anywhere! Secondly, I love how much room this clutch actually has. It may look "Deceptively Small" but don’t let it's looks fool you, I can put a ton in there. I have been able to carry my cell phone, my camera, a lip-gloss, my house keys, several ID cards, and money all at the same time in this little bag of surprises!!!

Lastly, this clutch has a lot of sentimental value to me. I purchased it while traveling in the beautiful country called Italy with my boyfriend on our first trip together . This is also my very first couture purchase, as they say you can’t ever forget your first, can you??!!

"Hence proved.........I absolutely love this clutch!"
Thanks for reading OZ!!!!

Sanity and happiness are an impossible combination...Arsh Nandha

I was sitting and having a meal with my husband when I saw this little girl pass us by at the restaurant. She had this little Pooh bear held tightly at her waist while her mom held her other hand ordering herself a coffee. After she was done they both sat on a table next to us.
The little munchkin was so happy with her POOH. She was cuddling him, she was talking to him and even tried feeding him some sugar. In that moment I thought to myself, that as we grow up we loose this part of us somewhere on the way. We forget the little joys of life and the small things that have the power to move us to tears. There is a child in each of us belted under those Armani work pants, lost in this chaos.

Due to our constant effort to grow up in life we forget to just sit and stare at the simple things passing us by.We rather look into our phone every 5 minutes than hold our lover's hand and ask her how her day went..... sad but true isn't it?

But there are some people who still believe in Magic and The Wishing Tree.
They move to their own beat and can start a celebration even on a sad day. They have this insatiable hunger for life. Every moment lost is like every moment spent not being "HAPPY".... yeah just like the song..... they clap along. They spread hugs and bring smiles to the people around them and are the life of any party. Their joy radiates in a room and they usually have the loudest laugh.

He is that friend of yours who will bring you a cupcake when you are heartbroken or take you dancing when you are broke....even on his low days he will be a part of your enjoyable evening spent doing nothing but cursing over football.
One such friend of mine is ARSH.

He lives in Melbourne and is a bundle of joy. A sucker for a good laugh, he is the tightest hug u'll ever receive, always smiling and spreading laughter and If there is a party in his vicinity you will definately find him there.

His moods and his likes are constantly changing and that is what keeps him going through the day,he lives in the hope to find something new at the curb.

Always making an entrance...... I have personally seen him climb the ladder of style so it was obvious that I ask Mr.Happy what makes him happy?? What is it that despite a change of mood will still be in his bag pack?
Knowing him I was expecting him to share some crazy things with me......but his reply made me smile, It actually took me by surprise as it turns out that our MR.HAPPY is not all fun and party only.......his thoughts run on a deeper level too.

"I love everything...I find everything precious...If you ask me it would be very difficult to pick a favourite but what has the most importance to me has a soulful connection to my roots and a deeper story behind it."

"It is a symbol of my religion...my "Karah"
"It never leaves my hand and brings back memories of home and family and is also my faith in the almighty. To me it is a piece of everything I hold dear, in it I see my mother guiding me,caring for me...in it I see my brother protecting me.....It's like my circle of empowerment hence it is a very important part of me."

"I also love my bracelets or cuffs, you will never catch me without one on my wrist and I have a plenty in my collection......this one below is my favourite though."

"I secondly treasure my belts...I can only add more and never seem to be able to throw any of them away despite the years....... I love them to pieces."

Having learnt about his faith in God, love and the power of sharing I couldn't let MR.HAPPY go without a few pieces of advise to pass the day by to which he smiles and says,

"The most important men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds. People favour underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Sometimes fight for a few underdogs anyways.

"HAVE A HAPPY DAY"
XoXo
